When You Say You Don't Have Clothes, I Believe You...

These words were spoken by my husband, the wonderful Kenny, at around 6 this evening.  These are shocking words to hear uttered by almost any husband- and even more amazing that my husband looked at me in the eye and said them!

In anticipation of my trip home, I have been cleaning out my closet.  My closet is now BARE!  I walked Kenny into our closet and had him look at the racks, racks with hangers but nothing to hang, empty racks, sad racks, racks just yearning to be filled up and used.  He looked, and then said 'when you say you don't have clothes, I believe you'!!!  These are the magic words for any wife to hear...

What do you see missing from this picture?  If you answered, CLOTHES, you answered correctly.

I have always been the woman who would sigh that I have nothing to wear as I comb through the 35 dresses hanging in the 'dress' part of the closet (a few of you have received gigantic boxes full of my dresses and understand where I am coming from), so it is really something to be at the point where I have just about nothing to wear.  The good news is that everything I am clearing out is way too big (which is so much better than clearing clothing out because it is way too small).  A few years ago I came to the realization, realization at the time I suppose, that I was never going to fit into my misses size 14-16/L-XL clothes again, packed them up and shipped them to a friend.  She got just about everything that I had grown out of.  I saved some of my super high-end pieces, but she got everything else.  Now I could use many of those pieces:(  I know that I am not at a 16 yet, but it is just a matter of time.  Luckily I saved a few of my Saks cashmere sweaters, and they FIT.  They fit beautifully... no muffin top, no stretching, nada.

I certainly miss having a full wardrobe to turn to, but I will trade the gigantic wardrobe for being a bit less gigantic (for the time being at least- I want a big wardrobe when I am at a better place).

Yes, we'd love to see you model the new stuff as you buy it! I agree, my wardrobe is so skimpy now, my closet nearly empty. I really do have to shop for a few interim items to get me through the next size.

I'm having a problem with bare-wardrobe-itis myself. I'm glad I didn't keep any of my old stuff from on the way up though, I was about 14 last time I was this size and it was all black clothes. LOL

So great to re-discover great clothes you've owned all this time. Sounds like you're a great shopper. :)

I have always said I would wear my clothes til they fell off of me, but they just look horrible on me and well I like to see my new smaller belly...so I have bought a few things like 2 pairs of jeans. One being a size 18 Diva jeans from Old Navy and one pair from LB. I seriously need new under things so that may be my next purchase. Please do show us what you buy as you know we all LOVE pictures.....lol.

Just try not to re-fill it too fast :o) Just think of all the fun you can have slowly filling it up again!!!

I am going through the same thing! I never thought I would "shrink" this fast. Of course I I am not complaining but, I was in a 22 about 3 months ago and now I'm in a 16 in most clothes. I decided not to buy a whole lot of 16's...even though it is so hard not to! I will wait until I get to about a 10 to re-fill my wardrobe. Again thanks for the dresses!! I passed them down to wonderful people! :)

We're in sync! That's exactly what I'm doing this weekend...cleaning out the too-big stuff and realizing there's not much left in the closet! Enjoy your bare hangers, Nora...they're a badge of victory and your closet will soon be filled with ever-shrinking clothing sizes!

Sounds like an invitation to go shopping to me!

I feel your pain. While I've never been much of a clothes hog, I have very little in my closet right now and it's driving me crazy!

Buying whole new wardrobes of new clothing sizes is SO EXPENSIVE!!! I feel your pain. I've totally been there. Wait until you've reached your goal weight before you start buying expensive clothes.
