Fast forward to today. I tried running again, and I did what any smart person at the gym would do (because I now have a male follower, I feel the need to be a bit less gender specific... let's see how long this lasts for)... I took the treadmill next to the hottest guy working out to give me a good incentive to keep running. It worked. I completed 1.6342 miles in 20 minutes- this included a 1-minute walk followed by a 19-minute jog at a rate of 5mph. I won't be breaking any records at a 12-minute mile, but I am very proud of myself for maintaining this pace for almost 20 minutes. The wild thing is that I could have kept running. I wasn't really tired, but I was bored. So I walked for another 10 minutes, did the Vario for 40 and then rode the bike for 30. It was a good working out day!

That is awesome, Nora!! And I absolutely LOVE your methodology. :)
I HATE running too!! I was the fat kid in gym class that couldn't finish the Mile run for physical fitness week! WAY TO GO girl, that's super impressive. I feel like a weenie now. LOL
good work out day ?? Oh no my friend ... that is an awesome work out day ! I remain in weenie world with Trisha but I'm here cheering you on !
I hate running too, but feel the same way you do. I have the C25K app as well and I have used just haven't gotten far with it yet. I did like pushing myself and felt great when I was done just because I do hate running....Way to go Nora
Hi Nora. I'm not sure that I've ever posted, but I read faithfully. I had VSG on 3/25/11. We started at about the same weight and have lost close to the same amount of weight.
I'm with you on not enjoying running, but I'm doing it sporadically now. You're way faster than I am though! Call me crazy, but I signed up today for a half marathon in 11 months. A friend and I are going to do it together.
I hope you'll stop by the blog sometime, we tend to blog about similar issues.
Awesome... I am jealous :o) Keep up the great workouts!!!
I long to be a runner - sometimes I do feel like we were born to run. Running for 20 minutes is AMAZING - just goes to show how fit you have become! Well done you!
That is so awesome! I find boredom to be a problem for me too...it's easier to do it outside where I have more to look at. Maybe if they put the hot guy right in front of you and you could chase him? :oP
Great job!! I tried running outside last week (it almost killed me) and there was no way I could have run a mile straight so I'm very impressed with how far you were able to run...maybe I need to find a hot guy to run next to ;)
That is fantastic, well done! I hate running too, I was on the treadmill today and ran about 2 steps, felt like an idiot and slowed it down.
Perhaps I'll give it a go too.
That's great! I need to use the hot-guy motivation as well. :)
Wow, that's awesome! Good for you!
I hate running too. But sounds like you may be a good fit for it. Keep up all that exercise. It's the secret.
WOW Nora! That gives me a boost of hope and inspiration I sorely needed today. Pretty proud of you--you're amazing!
